Analýza vztahu mezi veřejným financováním a vzděláváním: komparace Filipín, Malajsie a Thajska
Štursová, Kateřina
Providing high-quality education for everyone has been one of the principal objectives of development in the 21st century since education may be linked to the increase in the living standards and social development. In this thesis, the variable of education in the 21st century has been investigated within the period of 2010–2019 amid the era of two UN international programmes: Education for All (EFA) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The analysis was dedicated to three countries of Southeast Asia: Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Although the overall quality of education ranked low compared to other countries in the examined period, between 2% to 6% of GDP had been invested in education in the three analysed countries. The relationship between the government expenditures and enrolment to school served as the main inquired variable. A week relationship between the variable of financing and enrolment was then identified in Thailand and, by contrast, a strong relationship emerged in connection to the university level of education in the Philippines. A direct dependence, and thus a relationship exhibiting a growth of expenditures alongside the rise in enrolment, occurred only in Thailand in 2010–2014.
Comparison of holistic nursing care in Czech Republic and Thailand from the perspective of local students
WALTEROVÁ, Markéta
This bachelor's paper aims to map and compare holistic nursing care in the Czech Republic and Thailand as students of the nursing programme have experienced it during the internship in Thailand. In the theoretical part of the paper, we learn the definition of holism, holistic nursing care, a person's needs and how to satisfy them, and how nursing care's theoretical items help fulfil those needs. In the empirical part of the thesis, we did qualitative research with the help of semistructured interviews. We texted with Thai students, and we recorded Czech students during our conversation and then transcribed it. In both cases, we used open coding and worked with a pencil and a paper copy of the transcript. We divided the results of our research into five categories. In the first category, we evaluated the knowledge of holistic nursing care and showed students' subjective attitude. The second category studied the Czech approach to holistic nursing care, socio-cultural and religious standards influencing the care. And the third category examined the Thai approach to holistic nursing care. In the fourth category, we compared the most significant differences in holistic nursing care in the Czech Republic and Thailand. The last category introduced the possibilities of how providing holistic nursing care in Thailand can be an inspiration for the Czech Republic. This paper paid attention to the different application of holism to nursing care in countries with a distinct culture. As we have experienced in the internship in Thailand, the Czech medical system can draw inspiration from improving satisfying our patients' needs.
Potential vectors of leishmaniases in southeastern Asia
Mandysová, Adéla ; Dvořák, Vít (advisor) ; Vojtková, Barbora (referee)
Leishmaniasis are neglected tropical diseases caused by intracellular protozoan parasites of the genus Leishmania. They are transmitted by blood feeding phlebotomine sandflies (Diptera: Psychodidae). The disease occurs in many parts of the world, including southeastern Asia. Recently, the number of human leishmaniasis cases have been increasing in this region. Leishmania martiniquenis and L. orientalis of the subgenus Mundinia are the causative agents of cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis, L. donovani and L. infantum are the causative agents only of visceral leishmaniasis (also known as kala-azar) here. Domestic animals may serve as natural reservoirs, suggesting their role in zoonotic cycle. Although the fauna of phlebotomine sandflies in this area is rich, no species has yet been proven as a vector of the disease. Recent studies suggest that other groups of insects in the southeastern Asia could transmit the diasease. The potential vectors could be females of the genus Sergentomyia (Diptera: Psychodidae) and also biting midges of the genus Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae). Key words: sand fly, leishmaniasis, vector, southeastern Asia, Thailand

Tanchinwuttanakul, Kamol ; Balaš, Vladimír (advisor) ; Pauknerová, Monika (referee) ; Chovancová, Katarína (referee)
The commercial and investment relations between Thailand and the Czech Republic are longstanding. Currently, the Czech Republic imports a number of agricultural products and food from Thailand, and Thailand imports industrial technology from the Czech Republic. As a result, there are opportunities for Czech companies to invest in and establish business cooperation with Thai businesses with agreements to guarantee stable commercial investment relations between Thailand and the Czech Republic. Because of this, the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) between both countries facilitates further development. The dissertation deals with research about the Protection of Investments under the Bilateral Investment Treaty between Thailand and the Czech Republic. The object of...

The Construction of the Symbolic Meaning of the Monarchy in Contemporary Thai Society
Nirundon, Chanankan ; Janáč, Jiří (advisor) ; Geaney, Kathleen Brenda (referee) ; Verdier, Nicolas (referee)
This thesis focuses on the fabricated image and the public representation of King Bhumibol - the current King of Thailand in two contemporary documentary films "My King" in 2012 and "Bhumibol - The People's King" in 2013. The primary purpose of this study is to examine how the fabricated image of the current King of Thailand has been constructed through the utilization of contemporary documentary films. The study argued that Bhumibol has borrowed the fabricated image and public representation from the European context, i.e. the fabricated public representation of Louis XIV. Indeed, the study has been inspired by the work of Peter Burke in 1992 entitled "The Fabrication of Louis XIV". The aforementioned work of Burke, articles on the analysis of documentary films, literatures about the importance of images in Thai society were considered altogether in the empirical part of this study. The study pinpointed eleven specific attributes of the public representation of Bhumibol from the two documentary films. The characteristics consisted of "August", "Father of the People", "Generous", "Godlike", "Glorious", "Hero of the Nation", "Invincible", "Laborious", "Modernized", "Pious", and "Wise". On the basis of the results of this research, it can be concluded that the public representation of Bhumibol does...

Steinbachová, Eva ; Soukup, Václav (advisor) ; Uherek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)

This study does not claim to cover the topic in a full universal view. It is guided by an effort to map the issues in culturological terms and help to a deeper understanding of cultural heritage of East Asian culture as part of the cultural heritage of mankind. Keywords: Architecture, Southeast Asia, Buddhism, Hinduism, Java, Bali, Thailand, Cambodia.
